Plastic Products Overview

Brief Introduction

UV single pass digital printer is a digital printing device that uses UV curing technology. The Plastic Products Overview core principle is to precisely spray UV ink onto the surface of the material through a piezoelectric nozzle. The ink is then rapidly irradiated with UV-LED light to instantly cure the ink, thus forming a stable pattern or text. It has the core characteristics of “instant printing, wide application, and strong performance.”

The Printing Process of a UV Digital Printer

The printing process of a UV digital printer revolves around three core steps: “pretreatment – printing – curing.” It integrates three key steps: plasma treatment, UV digital printing, and a UV LED dryer. The specific process is as follows:

1. Pretreatment: Plasma Treatment (Whether to use plasma or corona pretreatment equipment depends on the printing material)
Before printing, the substrate (such as plastic, metal, glass, leather, etc.) must undergo surface treatment. Plasma treatment equipment bombards the substrate surface with high-energy plasma, removing impurities such as oil and dust. It also alters the substrate’s microstructure and chemical properties (such as increasing surface tension), enhancing the adhesion of subsequent UV ink to the substrate and preventing delamination and discoloration of the printed pattern, laying the foundation for high-quality printing.

2.Core Printing: UV Digital Printing
After plasma treatment, the substrate is transported to the UV digital printer’s print platform. The printer precisely sprays specialized UV ink onto the substrate surface based on the pre-set pattern or text data, creating the desired image or text layer. This process eliminates the plate-making steps required in traditional printing, enabling personalized, small-batch, and rapid digital printing. It is also adaptable to a variety of irregular or special-shaped substrates.

3.Post-Processing: UV LED Dryer Curing
After printing, the UV ink adhered to the substrate surface is still wet and must immediately enter the UV LED dryer for curing. The UV LED lamps within the dryer emit ultraviolet light of a specific wavelength, which strikes the UV ink, triggering a chemical reaction in the photocurable resin within the ink. The ink rapidly solidifies from a liquid to a solid state within a very short time (typically a few seconds to tens of seconds). This results in a stable pattern that is resistant to wear, scratches, and weathering, completing the entire printing process.

UV Digital Printers: CMYK vs. CMYK+W Printing: Differences and Selection Guide

Core Difference: From Principle to Actual Effect

CMYK is the basic color model of traditional four-color printing, while CMYK+W adds a white ink channel to it. The specific differences can be clearly compared in the following table:

Summary: Quick Decision in One Sentence

“Light-colored substrate, no white pattern, limited budget” → Choose CMYK printing;

“Dark/transparent substrate, white pattern, high color contrast required” → Choose CMYK+W printing.
